Colorful Barker Shoes

For over 140 years Barker has been making shoes in the village of Earls Barton, Northampton and is appreciated by shoe admirers around the world.

A range of Barker shoes that particularly catches the eye is the Creative collection. A prominent feature in the Creative collection is the use of color, a restriction less explored in the other Barker collections and traditional shoes in general.

Barker’s freedom to play with color from a leather perspective is because of the hand painting skills of our Barker craftspeople. The leather is individually hand painted with natural dyes to a rich and deep patina resulting in a unique appearance where no pair can be the same.

The Creative collection statement makers include the McClean, a men’s Oxford wingtip brogue available in several colour combinations. McClean is a firm favorite for matching with formal attire and special occasions and is often referred to as the ideal wedding shoe. A newcomer to the Creative collection for Spring / Summer 2020 is Emerson, a elegant Oxford which has been inspired by the McClean.

The most colourful style within the Barker Creative collection is Valiant, a men’s Oxford brogue that was inspired by the Barker Grant, a long serving style. The Valiant features include a Goodywear-welted construction, full leather sole and is hand painted at our Earls Barton factory.

Valiant is available in several bright colourways including the popular multi-colour and Ebony/Green/Blue options. Valiant in multi-colour is also available in a women’s version called Fearne, a Oxford Brogue that stands out in Purple Hand Painted also.

Another colourful Oxford style is Jax, the classic semi brogue is made up of three colours including the Red/Navy/Ebony colourway.

For ladies a style of note is Ali, the little sister to the men’s Lennon style, Ali is a Oxford brogue made from hand painted crust leather with contrast canvas.
